Chef Kobayashi Masayuki

Our Chef Masayuki Kobayashi

In 1985, he began his career as a chef at a French restaurant in a prestigious hotel in Karuizawa, one of Japan's leading resort areas. In order to further his own development, he studied cuisines from around the world, not just French cuisine, but also other countries. He became fascinated with the abundant ingredients found in Japan, and while pursuing local ingredients and the cooking techniques that were best suited to them, he gained experience as a chef in hotels all over Japan.

After serving as executive chef at a famous hotel in Minakami Kogen, he was appointed as the chef of JW Marriott Hotel Nara Silk Road Dining in February 2020. On his days off, he likes to tend to the various vegetables he grows in his own fields and cook what he harvests.
